Wikipedia zufolge unterscheidet man im Japanischen Bogenschießen 3 Qualitäten des Treffens:

* Toteki: Der Pfeil trifft das Ziel.
* Kanteki: Der Pfeil durchbohrt das Ziel.
* Zaiteki: Der Pfeil existiert im Ziel.


Für die erste reicht eine gute Technik und Bewegungsform aus. In der zweiten ist eine zielgerichtete Dynamik erforderlich. Auf der dritten steht vor dem Lösen bereits fest, dass der Pfeil trifft. Dieses kann nur erreicht werden, wenn Körper, Geist und Technik zu einer Einheit verschmelzen.
